If you are looking for a way to save directly the processed data with disco in a DDFS tag, you only need to add this extra parameter:

to you run method.

Example :

After the execution of the job you will be able to find already stored in DDFS a tag named disco:job:results:myNiceJob@xxxx:xxxx:xxxx that you can use as an input for other jobs.

WARNING: is not documented anywhere, but using this option will add a read/write token to the result tag that will limit access to it. If you need to re-use the content of such tag, you will always have to specify the token “job” (that’s the automatically assigned name) to access it. It took me couple of hours of deep investigation to understand why I was getting the error :

Unable to access resource (http://localhost:8989/ddfs/tag/disco:job:results:MyNiceJob@538:9c3fb:b9f17): Incorrect or missing token. (401)

Have fun !

Skype bug that posts an emoticon on everyline you type

Hey hey,

here there is a nice Xmas bug for you.

If you, like me, are running the version here there is a small How To that allows you to send each message with an emoticon post-pended to it.

The issue can be reproduced any time in any chat window, until is closed.

Here there is how it works :

  1. Open a friend’s chat window
  2. Type a message to your friend containing an emoticon
  3. Press the UP arrow to edit the message
  4. Copy paste the emoticon bazillion of times (I actually make a row of around 15 emoticons, copy it and then paste it keeping pressed CTRL+V for around ten seconds)
  5. Press enter
  6. Now type your messages to your friend: each line should have an emoticon !

If it doesn’t work for you, try to put more emoticons while editing the message.

Most annoying Windows 7 bug : trick your friends!

It is now at least two years that I discovered this bug, but still Microsoft probably didn’t even identify it.

I tried it with Windows 7 Enterprise Edition and Ultimate edition, but other versions might be affected as well.

The bug is pretty annoying when you have people around and you lock the workstation.

In fact, anyone can enable the High Contrast for accessibility on your machine, even without unlocking your workstation !

The result is that when you log back in, apparently everything is normal, but your color scheme suddenly get switched to High Contrast.

Imagine how this can piss you off if you don’t know it!

There is only one requirement : the machine must be locked (so the user should have been logged already in and locked the workstation after)

How do I do that ?

It is pretty easy.

When your victim’s machine is locked, go to Accessibility options in the bottom right and enable the High Contrast feature, then press OK.
Now click on Switch User : you will be redirected back to the user selection screen (Windows may ask to press CTRL+ALT+DEL for it) with normal contrast settings.
Proceed clicking on the user that was logged in and leave the screen with the password field as it is.

When the victim will type his password, he will resume his session, but with a “WTF?!?“, because his color scheme will be switched on High Contrast !

I don’t assume any responsibility if any of your colleagues or friends will kick you for doing this !

Have fun and I hope Microsoft will now fix this bug in one of their software updates !

P.S. : if you get any video of your friends getting crazy with it, place a link to the video in a comment =)
